Sixers say Embiid will play in summer league
Coming soon, something that we haven't seen in a while: Joel Embiid playing in a basketball game.
Philadelphia 76ers CEO Scott O'Neil confirmed Tuesday to CSN that the center will play in the summer league, his first game action since March 2014 when he was at the University of Kansas.
Earlier this month, Sixers coach Brett Brown said he was unsure if the No. 3 pick in last year's draft would suit up this summer. Embiid missed his entire rookie season recovering from right foot surgery. While wowing with pregame warmup dunks this year, Embiid mostly worked out in one-on-ones or two-on-twos, rather than full team practices.
Brown has questioned the seven-footer's work ethic and a report surfaced last week that Embiid has been fined thousands of dollars by the team for being late and missing rehab sessions.
