Doughty, Karlsson, Subban named finalists for Norris Trophy

Three familiar faces have been named as the finalists for the Norris Trophy.

Defensemen Drew Doughty, Erik Karlsson and P.K. Subban will contend for the honor, handed out to the top defenseman in the league.

Doughty, 25, played in all 82 regular season games for the Los Angeles Kings, finishing the year with seven goals and 39 assists. The two-time Olympic gold medalist has yet to win the trophy.

The 25-year-old Subban also played in every game for the Montreal Canadiens this season, recording 15 goals and 45 assists. The 2012-13 winner of the trophy provided his squad with a high energy style of play that he's become notorious for.

Karlsson, 24, had another outstanding season for the Ottawa Senators, with 66 points in 82 games. The offensive defenseman recorded his second straight 20-goal season, helping lead his team into the postseason after a magical run to the regular season's end.

Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano, who was a favorite early in the season, was left off the ballot after going down with a torn biceps injury, forcing him to miss 21 games.
