Vikings GM Spielman: We want to trade down in draft, won't trade Adrian Peterson

There's never more misinformation floating around the NFL world than in the days leading up to the draft, which is why the comments Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman made Tuesday are so refreshing.

Spielman was shockingly frank about his draft plans, telling reporters he wants to trade down from the No. 11 pick.

"I’m looking forward to potentially moving out of that pick, if at all possible. I don’t anticipate us moving up at this point, but I would love the opportunity to move down and collect more picks. My goal is always to have 10 picks and one of the reasons for that is you get the opportunity to move up and down throughout that draft," Spielman said.

"When you get from the seventh or eighth pick down to the 20th pick, there isn't that much difference," he added.

Spielman was also upfront about his plans for Adrian Peterson, saying he has "no interest" in working out a trade.

Maybe Spielman is blowing smoke and his true plan will be revealed on Thursday. More likely, he's one of the few NFL executives who realizes all the lying his peers do ahead of the draft is so transparent it's essentially pointless.
