Kruger scores to end 3OT marathon as Blackhawks even series with Ducks
Marcus Kruger scored 16:12 into the third overtime period to lift the Chicago Blackhawks over the Anaheim Ducks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final, tying the series at one.
Andrew Shaw and Marian Hossa also scored for the Blackhawks in the 3-2 victory. Andrew Cogliano and Corey Perry replied for Anaheim, which lost at home for the first time this postseason.
Star Performer: Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford didn't flinch in overtime, finishing with a career-high 60 saves in the victory. He stopped all 28 shots he faced during extra time, including a highlight-reel stop on Perry in the second overtime period.
Turning Point: Anaheim and Chicago traded chances for over 50 minutes of overtime before Kruger's goal. The Ducks hit at least three posts during extra time, which could be taken as a sign Tuesday wasn't their night.

Goalie Comparison: Both netminders were outstanding. All of the goals were scored on deflections and second-chance opportunities. Crawford ended with the win, but Frederik Andersen deserves full credit for his effort.
Goalie | Shots | GA | Saves | SV% |
---|---|---|---|---|
Crawford | 62 | 2 | 60 | .968 |
Andersen | 56 | 3 | 53 | .946 |
Top Highlight: The Blackhawks thought they won midway through the second overtime when Shaw knocked an airborne puck past Andersen with his head, but the goal was disallowed. The NHL rulebook prohibits players from intentionally directing a puck into the net with anything other than their stick.
Stat of the Night: Tuesday's contest was the longest in Blackhawks history, breaking a record set in 1931.
