Mayweather-Pacquiao trainers exchange verbal jabs ahead of big fight
While Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are preparing for the biggest fight of their careers, Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Freddie Roach are getting at each other ahead of Saturday's fight at the MGM Grand.
"I really don’t hate Floyd Mayweather Sr.," said Pacquiao's trainer Roach. "He does get under my skin. He’s trying to do the best he can and I’m trying to do the best I can."
"There’s no hard feelings."
Apparently not for Mayweather Sr., who responded in a less than complementary fashion to Roach's comments.
"Freddie Roach is a joke with no hope," he said. "That’s my answer."
Roach also added that the only reason Mayweather Jr. took the fight with Pacquiao now was because the Showtime network pushed him and that he was afraid to fight in the past.
"He’s a good fighter but he picked his own opponents the whole time," said Roach. "I have a feeling he didn’t pick this one. I don’t really think he wanted to fight this fight. I think he was forced to fight this fight."
Of course, Mayweather Sr. had to stand up for his undefeated son.
"We don’t care what they say," he said. "We are not scared. I’m telling you that. They’re the ones who are scared."
"I don’t think it will be much of a fight," he added.
