Beno Udrih on whether Marc Gasol will join the Knicks: 'They're not going to get him'
Marc Gasol in Manhattan?
Don't bank on it, at least not if Beno Udrih's brief stint with the New York Knicks is anything to go by.
The Slovenian point guard was asked to weigh in on reports linking his Memphis Grizzlies teammate with a move to the Knicks in conversation with Jared Zwerling of Bleacher Report. Although New York's cap space suggests such a move is possible, Udrih believes a potential deal will never materialize because of Gasol's laid-back persona.
"They're not going to get him," Udrih said. "He's a laid-back guy and doesn't like drama."
Back in March, Gasol - who will be one of the most sought-after free agents this summer - denied the idea that he'd ruled out a move to New York, saying: "I haven't ruled anything out because I haven't thought about it."
Udrih only featured in 31 contests for the Knicks, but his short time in Manhattan likely provided him enough time to develop an understanding of the problems that plague the franchise.
After all, he was there at the beginning of the 2013-14 season, when then-head coach Mike Woodson had clearly lost the locker room and the Knicks were quickly becoming the joke of the NBA.
