Report: Love not willing to let Olynyk apologize privately

They say the wise forgive but do not forget. Kevin Love is apparently unwilling to do either when it comes to Kelly Olynyk.

Love rejoined the Cleveland Cavaliers for Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinals on Wednesday after being absent for Game 1 following surgery to repair a dislocated left shoulder that will sideline him for the remainder of the playoffs and beyond. While he's back and appeared in good enough spirits – despite a poorly thought-out promotion in his honor getting cancelled – he certainly doesn't seem like he's ready to move on.

Love was injured at the hands of Olynyk in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics when Olynyk barred his left arm fighting for position, a play Love believes Olynyk made on purpose and called "bush league." While Olynyk called that assertion "ridiculous," he still wants the chance to apologize.

Olynyk and his representatives have continually reached out to those close to Love in hopes of arranging an opportunity for Olynyk to apologize privately, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. But Love has turned Olynyk down and isn't interested in speaking to the man who has thrown a cloud over Love's impending unrestricted free agency, according to the report.

That would seem to lend credence to earlier reports that Olynyk's actions may have cost the Celtics the chance to land Love in free agency, something Celtics general manager Danny Ainge probably didn't help by calling Love's public reaction "over the top."

It's easy to feel for Olynyk, who may have been trying to make a dirty play but probably didn't mean to take four-to-six months from Love by doing so. And it's not as if Cavaliers fans are making things easier on Olynyk, either, taking him to task with some very creative and hateful tweets.

So come on, Kevin, remember: There is no Love without forgiveness.
