Oilers' Eberle, Hall impressed with coach Todd McLellan at World Championship
Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle appear on board with the prospect of Todd McLellan becoming their new NHL head coach.
The pair of young Edmonton Oilers - currently representing their home and native land at the World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic, under McLellan - have nothing but positive things to say about the man believed to be the front runner for the NHL club's head-coaching gig.
Eberle told Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun:
I’ve been impressed. In a short term event like this, sometimes the coaches can be a little light hearted, but so far McLellan has been on track and on the ball every step of the way.
He showed us what he’s all about when we went down by three to Sweden and he kind of rallied us. I have nothing but positive things to say so far.
Hopefully he’s one of the candidates. I look forward to see what’s going to happen there.
Hall also pointed to the comeback win over Sweden as an enlightening experience.
"(McLellan) pushed all the right buttons," said Hall. "What he said in the first intermission certainly resonated with our group. We have a lot of respect for him and I think that’s really shining through."
While coaching a loaded Canadian squad as opposed to the Oilers back in the NHL is quite the contrast, an endorsement from two of the team's most talented young players bodes well for McLellan's potential arrival in Edmonton.
