Former NHLer Boynton pleads guilty to disorderly conduct after casino outburst

Nick Boynton, the Arizona Coyotes broadcaster and former NHL player, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct Friday in Buffalo City Court following an ugly incident at a local casino in March.

Boynton, 36, yelled and cursed at Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino workers and patrons in a drunken stupor the morning prior to a contest between the Coyotes and Sabres.

The former defenseman also shoved one patron off a chair and bit a police officer on the hand during the incident.

Boynton has agreed to perform 100 hours of community service and continue alcohol counseling, according to the Buffalo News. After facing more serious misdemeanor charges, Boynton was offered a plea deal because he had no prior criminal record and the arresting officers did not object.

He was immediately suspended by the Coyotes after his arrest, but plans to reach out to management about reinstatement.

"I feel terrible. I want to apologize to my family, to the Arizona Coyotes," Boynton said outside the courtroom following his sentencing. "I want to put this in my past and learn from my mistakes and make sure this does not happen again."

“I’m hoping to be back with the organization,” Boynton added.

Boynton must avoid the Buffalo casino for one year, after which he must request permission to return from facility officials.
