Report: Maple Leafs have already spoken with Mike Babcock
The lines of communication are officially open between Mike Babcock and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Brendan Shanahan and his three-pronged management team acquired permission to speak with the coveted Detroit Red Wings head coach and have already reached out to the decorated bench boss, according to various reports.
The Maple Leafs will also reportedly engage in serious discussions with Todd MacLellan, who was let go by the San Jose Sharks at the end of his seventh season at the helm.
The Maple Leafs are without a practicing general manager after firing Dave Nonis.
Babcock is currently being wined and dined in the Czech Republic, soaking in the happenings at the World Championship.
Teams will have to forfeit a third-round pick to poach the highly sought-after bench boss.
