Manny Pacquiao back in Philippines focusing on recovery, not Floyd Mayweather
Manny Pacquiao brushed off questions about a possible rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an interview in the Philippines on Wednesday. Instead of looking ahead to his next fight, Pacquiao says he's focused on recovering from surgery on his injured shoulder.
"For now I don't talk about it, about my next fight," Pacquiao said, according to CNN. "My focus is to recover and be OK."
Pacquiao underwent surgery on the shoulder to repair a tear in his rotator cuff. He is expected to make a full recovery from the injury, a sentiment which Pacquiao echoed Wednesday, adding that he needed to rest for six months.
"The doctor said I will recover 100 percent," Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao underwent surgery four days after fighting Mayweather at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. He dropped the bout via unanimous decision after 12 rounds.
Prior to the fight, Pacquiao had asked for a painkilling injection in the shoulder but was denied.
