VIDEO: Giancarlo Stanton launches mammoth 478-foot blast, fan barehands it

Giancarlo Stanton continued his assault on major league pitching with another no-doubter that has to be seen to be believed.

Stanton hit the second biggest homer ever at Marlins Park when he launched a massive blast off Atlanta Braves left-hander Alex Wood in the third inning Saturday that somehow traveled three feet further than the one that left Dodger Stadium.

That's the third home run Stanton's hit of 465 feet or more in the last five days after crushing a 475-footer out of Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, and fourth homer overall in his last four games. The NL MVP now owns three of the five furthest-hit homers in the majors this season, according to MLB Statcast.

Some of Stanton's teammates are questioning the length of the majestic shot.

"There's no way that ball's less than 500 feet," Marlins pitcher Dan Haren said. "I discredit all the data."

Miami second baseman Dee Gordon shared a similar outlook on the blast.

"I think they're lying. That's an easy 500," Gordon said. "Ain't no way that's 478."

The Miami Marlins slugger, who has 11 homers on the season, also went deep twice Friday at a combined distance of 874 feet, including a 474-foot shot to the center-field camera bay.

Stanton's latest blast sent one fan home with a souvenir and massive welt on his hand after catching Saturday's behemoth 115-mph homer barehanded.
