Report: Former NBAer Royce White to get Clippers summer league invite
The Los Angeles Clippers are looking to take a chance on Royce White, according to 1500 ESPN's Darren Wolfson.
White, who has been open about struggling with an anxiety disorder, even prior to his being drafted to the NBA, was selected by the Houston Rockets with the No. 16 pick in 2012.
During his rookie season, he refused to accept an assignment to the Rockets' D-League affiliate, leading to a suspension from the team.
White was often critical of the team that drafted him, as he felt Houston did not provide him with the support he needed. Rockets general manager Daryl Morey would later state that White was "the worst first-round pick ever."
The talented, 6-8 forward was eventually traded to the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2013 offseason. The partnership did not last long, though, as White was waived before the October 28 deadline.
He signed two 10-day contracts with the Sacramento Kings in March 2014, appearing in a March 21 game against the San Antonio Spurs. After White's second 10-day expired, the team let him go.
