The Colorado Rockies took their second prep player of the first round by selecting high school right-hander Mike Nikorak with the 27th pick in the 2015 MLB Draft.
Nikorak, 18, was a compensation pick for the Rockies after Michael Cuddyer declined a qualifying offer last winter to sign with the New York Mets. The former all-conference quarterback throws an effortless mid- to high-90s fastball and is considered among the more projectable arms in this year's class.
The Rockies went with another upside pick with their first selection, securing the consensus top talent in the draft by making high school shortstop Brendan Rodgers the third overall pick.
