It did not take long for the Ryan McDonagh mystery to be solved.
The New York Rangers captain was limited in the first period of Friday's Game 7 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, briefly heading to the locker room before accruing 17:33 of ice time.
After the loss, head coach Alain Vigneault revealed the nature of McDonagh's ailment.
McDonagh recorded a goal and two assists in the seven games against the Lightning, and averaged well over 20 minutes per game prior to the climactic match.
The Rangers dressed seven defenseman for Game 7 in the event that McDonagh wasn't able to play, but clearly nothing was going to keep him off the ice with the season on the line.
