- Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum will finally square off in the Octagon in a pseudo "champion vs. champion" bout at UFC 188 in June. Werdum captured the interim heavyweight title with a win over mark Hunt at UFC 180 in November.
- Stipe Miocic violently made a case for himself to face the winner for Velasquez-Werdum when he absolutely dismantled Mark Hunt at a Fight Night event in May. Although Miocic lost to Junior dos Santos in the late stages of 2014, dos Santos's two lopsided losses to Velasquez makes Miocic a more attractive title-challenger (unless Werdum can put an end to Velasquez's reign of terror).
- Andrei Arlovski's incredible career renaissance continued at UFC 187 last month when he TKO'd Travis Browne in an early fight of the year candidate. After being discarded onto the UFC scrap heap in 2006, "The Pit Bull' is now 3-0 since returning to the Octagon in 2014.
