Draymond Green trash-talked LeBron James before entering NBA
From the comfort and safety of his couch in East Lansing, Mich., sophomore Spartan, Draymond Green, hit "Send" on a series of tweets that would be conveniently unearthed five years later.
Green's target: LeBron James.
As his tweets went public on April 18, 2010 - during Game 1 of an opening-round matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder - Green shared his thoughts on the differences between Kobe Bryant and James.
At the time, James was attempting to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to his, and the team's, first NBA title. The day before Green's tweets, James tallied 24 points, six rebounds, and five assists in a Game 1 victory over the Chicago Bulls.
Give it to Green for accurately predicting Kobe's fifth championship during the first week of the playoffs, but - in spite of Green's nay-saying - James would hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy two seasons later as a member of the Miami Heat. So, Green went 1-for-2 on his prognostications.
Green will likely have ample opportunity to back up his outdated social media jabs when his Golden State Warriors face James and his Cavs in the NBA Finals, which commence Thursday.
