After using their first pick on junior college right-hander Phil Bickford, the San Francisco Giants opted for Boston College first baseman Chris Shaw with their second pick Monday evening, the 31st overall selection in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft.
"He's a guy we think has a legitimate chance of hitting in the middle of the lineup," said John Barr, the Giants' director of amateur scouting.

Overview
At 6-foot-3 and nearly 250 pounds, Shaw's strongest attribute is his power, as the Massachusetts native blasted 11 home runs with nine doubles in 40 games for the Eagles this season after enjoying a strong performance in the Cape Cod League last summer.
He isn't expected to provide much defensive value - his below-average speed certainly doesn't help, either - but he worked hard to improve his defensive game during his time at Boston College and does possess a powerful arm.
