Report: Bucks to pursue Tyson Chandler, Brook Lopez in free agency
The Milwaukee Bucks are in the market for a big man, and will target centers Tyson Chandler and Brook Lopez this summer, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Chandler is an unrestricted free agent, while Lopez can become the same by opting out of his contract with the Brooklyn Nets.
The fact that Milwaukee would pursue either comes as little surprise. Chandler, 32, could fit the bill as a rim-protecting interior anchor and veteran presence amid the Bucks' young, long perimeter defenders. He also played alongside coach Jason Kidd with the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks.
Similar history applies with Lopez, whom Kidd previously coached with the Nets. Lopez has more offensive upside, and it was reported last month the Bucks would have interest the 27-year-old center. While Lopez is expected to opt out for purely financial reasons, the Nets will reportedly stop at nothing to keep their leading scorer and rebounder, given the current makeup of their roster.
