Red Sox manager John Farrell calls Miley's outburst 'unacceptable'
A day after Boston Red Sox starter Wade Miley threw a nationally televised fit in the dugout, his manager took anything but a soft stance on the matter.
"What happened in the dugout last night was a pitcher who was competitive (and) obviously did not like the decision to be removed from the game," Farrell told reporters ahead of Friday's tilt against the Toronto Blue Jays.
"But the outburst in the dugout was something that's, you know, unacceptable. I won't stand for it. As a result, we met immediately following the game."
Miley was yanked in the fifth inning a night earlier after he allowed five runs off nine hits to the Baltimore Orioles and a season-high three home runs.
Though Miley initially downplayed the altercation, he was a little more contrite after the matter.
"I handled it terrible ... I lost my head last night," he said.
Farrell and Miley hope to leave the incident in Baltimore. The manager said his pitcher won't be fined and his next start isn't in jeopardy.
