76ers' Embiid suffers setback with injured right foot
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has suffered a setback with his injured right foot.
On Saturday, the team released a statement regarding Embiid, whom they selected with their No. 3 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Embiid and Sixers personnel had recently traveled to Los Angeles to have the former Kansas Jayhawk go through a series of routine exams. These tests revealed "less healing than anticipated at this point."
Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed that the team is consulting with doctors regarding what next steps must be taken in light of this unfortunate development.
Prior to this discovery, Embiid was expected to participate in the Sixers' summer league games in July. Whether or not he will take part in these games will be determined at a later date.
Embiid missed the entire 2014-15 season - his rookie campaign - due to a stress fracture in his foot, suffered days before the draft.
