Dez Bryant could sit multiple regular-season games absent new deal, agent says
Dez Bryant is prepared to sit out the Dallas Cowboys' Week 1 matchup with the New York Giants, and possibly longer, if his agent is to be believed.
Tom Condon, one of Bryant's agents, said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that Bryant is willing to miss multiple regular-season games absent a new deal.
Condon added that the Cowboys haven't spoken with Bryant about a new contract.
Bryant is set to earn $12.8 million in 2015 under the franchise tag.
As expected, Bryant was a no-show for Day 1 of the team's mandatory minicamp Tuesday. It's very rare for a player to sign his franchise tender at this stage of the offseason.
Bryant's holdout is expected to continue until the deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term extensions on July 15 at a minimum.
With a month to go until the deadline, there's plenty of time for the two parties to start talking. They may want to get started as soon as possible, however, because Bryant's threat of sitting out regular-season contests suggests he plans to take a very strong stance in negotiations.
