Robert Upshaw cleared to resume workouts following medical red flag with heart
Maybe the third time will be the charm.
NBA prospect Robert Upshaw has been cleared to resume working out for teams ahead of the June 25 draft, good news to hear after a heart issue was identified during his medical examination at the combine.

Upshaw was shut down on June 5 so that further blood testing could be completed by NBA doctors. It's the third time in his short career that Upshaw has been flagged, according to agent Bill Duffy, and he's ultimately been cleared on each occasion.
While the news is encouraging, it doesn't change the fact that Upshaw lost nearly two weeks worth of time working out for teams. Those individual sessions might be more important for his draft stock than any other player's, as Upshaw's file contains plenty of red flags - he was dismissed from two college programs, and interviews with teams were expected to be paramount to his first-round draft status.
With one of the best height, wingspan, standing reach, and hand size measurements, plus a ridiculous block rate at Washington, the appeal is obvious, so Upshaw could still find himself among the top-30, especially if teams are convinced his medical issue is a non-factor. The time off was enough to drop him from No. 38 to No. 42 on ESPN's board, but his stock was largely unchanged at DraftExpress, who rank him 29th.
