Cam Newton visits families of Charleston shooting victims
You'd be hard-pressed to find a more prominent figure in the Carolinas than Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, and it's apparent the passer takes his status as a key member of the community very seriously.
Newton spent time Monday visiting families of victims of last week's church shooting in Charleston. According to Bill Voth of BlackAndBlueReview.com, Newton visited Chris Singleton, a baseball player at Charleston Southern who lost his mother, and the family of Tywanza Sanders, who was killed trying to protect his aunt.

Newton isn't the first member of the team to respond to the tragedy. Owner Jerry Richardson donated $100,000 to families of the victims.
