Yes, sir.
The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Sir'Dominic Pointer with their second round pick, No. 53 overall, in Thursday's NBA Draft.
The swingman out of St. John's averaged 13.7 points on 52.4 per cent shooting in his senior year, his first as a starter for the Red Storm. He was named the Big East's co-defensive player, but it's the 6-foot-6, 195-pounder's athleticism that gets him noticed most.
Pointer is a bit tough to evaluate as someone who broke out as a senior, as his first three college years were largely uninspiring. He can't hit from outside, limiting his NBA utility, but he found dirty ways to score, hit the glass hard, and blocked shots at a terrific rate for a wing.
The Cavs may look to sell the pick or accept the low success rate of picks in the 50s, but there's also a hope Pointer's 6-foot-8 wingspan makes him a capable multi-position defensive specialist.
