By not waiving reserve center Chris Kaman by Tuesday afternoon, the Portland Trail Blazers picked up the team option on his contract for next season. The move fully guarantees the veteran's $5 million salary for next season, but it's possible he could be traded depending on how things shake out in PDX.
Expected to lose LaMarcus Aldridge and quite possibly Robin Lopez in free agency, the Blazers added big man Mason Plumlee on draft night. They also have a developing Meyers Leonard and are rumored to be pursuing Greg Monroe.
Kaman was a capable backup big last season, averaging 8.6 points and 6.5 rebounds in just under 19 minutes a game.
