It's always a good time with the Sacramento Kings and Rudy Gay is trying to convince the organization to have Rajon Rondo join the fun, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Last week, it was reported that Rondo and the Kings have mutual interest in one another, but interestingly that came with a potential caveat that Sacramento deal Gay first in order to accommodate the mercurial point guard.
However, Gay and Rondo are apparently good friends, and Rondo is apparently interested as well.
There's a fairly strong chance Rondo could end up with the Kings anyways and Stein adds that in all likelihood he would only sign a one-year contract wherever he goes.
That's basically a no-brainer. Besides the ability to re-enter free agency next year with an exploding salary cap, Rondo didn't do his reputation any favors with his bridge-burning act down the stretch with the Dallas Mavericks last season. Teams are reportedly leery of paying the playmaker with shooting issues, including the Los Angeles Lakers, who were once heavily linked to Rondo thanks to his kindred spirithood with Kobe Bryant.
While every day appears to bring a new ridiculous drama with the Kings front office, if you look at the playing roster as currently constructed, Rondo could be a good fit. Incumbent point guard Darren Collison missed 37 games with a core injury this past season.
