Mike Richards was reportedly asked about oxycodone pills when he was stopped at the Canadian border.
The former Los Angeles Kings forward is part of a Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigation regarding the prescription painkiller, according to TMZ. It was previously reported he was involved in an investigation, although the nature of the investigation was unclear.
Richards has not been charged, but the investigation is believed to be linked to his border incident.
"We are in the process of reviewing the facts and circumstances of this matter, and will discuss the situation with the player in order to determine the appropriate course of action," a representative for the NHLPA said.
