- Division overlord Demetrious Johnson will look to continue his reign of terror against John Dodson at some point in 2015. Dodson, who won a listless bout against Zach Makovsky in his return to the Octagon from an ACL injury, lost to "Mighty Mouse" when the two squared off back at UFC on FOX 6 in 2013.
- Joseph Benavidez continued his run as the division's best fighter not nicknamed "Mighty Mouse" at UFC 187, using smothering top control to dominate fellow former title challenger John Moraga.
- It wasn't an earth-shattering, division-altering performance, but Henry Cejudo survived his toughest task at UFC 188, winning a clear decision over veteran Chico Camus. Cejudo is still likely two or three big performances away from contending for a title.
- The fantastically nicknamed "Uncle Creepy" Ian McCall will look to return to title contention on August 8 when he takes on Dustin Ortiz. McCall and Ortiz faced each other at a Tachi Palace Fight event in 2011, when McCall won a unanimous decision.
