As far as dysfunction and mystifying behavior go, Rajon Rondo may be about to meet his match.
The Sacramento Kings reportedly requested a meeting Wednesday with the embattled point guard, whose reputation as both a teammate and a basketball player took a beating this past season after a disastrous mid-season trade to the Dallas Mavericks.
The Kings' image has arguably been battered even worse this year, as their meddlesome, finicky, and indecisive owner has created a trickle-down effect that's led to front office chaos and a coaching carousel that's churning at breakneck speed.
In other words, the Kings might just be the only organization in basketball right now that's crazy and desperate enough to cater to Rondo's demands. Those demands would reportedly see them expend every bit of their current cap space.
Kings small forward Rudy Gay has reportedly been urging the Kings to sign Rondo, who is said to want a one-year deal, presumably so that he can rehabilitate his image and re-enter free agency ahead of the 2016 cap-spike bonanza.
Whether Sacramento is the right place for him to do it is bound to be the subject of some debate. But if there's one silver lining to a potential partnership, it's that Rondo's issues would likely pale in comparison to those of the franchise he'd be playing for.
