Report: Shane Larkin agrees to 2-year, $3M deal with Nets

Shane Larkin doesn't have far to travel this offseason.

The former New York Knicks point guard has agreed to a two-year, $3-million deal with the Brooklyn Nets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Larkin was the No. 18 overall selection in 2013, a pick the Atlanta Hawks immediately sent to the Dallas Mavericks. He played one season in Dallas before being dealt to the Knicks ahead of the 2014 draft, earning far more playing time in a lost season in Gotham.

The Knicks opted not to pick up the third-year option on Larkin's rookie-scale contract, and the Nets are trying to take advantage despite already having three point guards on the roster. His path to playing time is unclear, but the Nets are permanently shopping Deron Williams, and either Jarrett Jack or Steve Blake could go, too.

A savvy pick-and-roll manager, Larkin averaged 6.2 points and three assists in 24.5 minutes for the Knicks this past season. If he could develop his outside shot - he's hit 30.5 percent of his 3-point attempts through two seasons - the 5-foot-11 University of Miami product could have a solid career as a backup point guard.
