DeAndre Jordan's decision to join the Dallas Mavericks has left the Los Angeles Clippers with a gigantic hole at center.
Moreover, the Clippers are above the salary cap. That's why they're reportedly hoping to secure a three-way sign-and-trade with the Mavericks and Indiana Pacers to acquire Roy Hibbert, who has fallen out of favor in Indianapolis.
It's a sensible move. The Pacers snagged Monta Ellis from Dallas, the Mavericks grabbed Jordan from the Clippers, and the Clippers could really use an unwanted piece in Hibbert.
But there's one problem: the Mavericks have no incentive to help the Clippers, who also have very few assets at their disposal to entice anyone to work out a sign-and-trade.
Still, the Clippers have other options at their disposal. They could parlay the contract of Jamal Crawford ($6 million) into a sign-and-trade for Kosta Koufos, or opt to weave something out of scraps. JaVale McGee and Kendrick Perkins could represent last-ditch efforts for the Clippers.
