Wade during Twitter Q&A: I plan to play 'for a lil while;' yells at Mario Chalmers

Don't take Dwyane Wade's one-year contract as a sign the 33-year-old is thinking short-term about his NBA career.

The Miami Heat superstar has reportedly agreed to a $20-million deal for 2015-16, but the single-year pact is designed to maintain flexibility for both player and team, not to suggest Wade could call it a career in the near future.

With the salary cap set to explode in 2016, the Heat looking to make a big splash in free agency, and the sides unable to work out a long-term deal, the move keeps Wade in South Beach for now, at a salary that shows appreciation for his decade-plus of sacrifice and contribution.

During a Twitter Q&A on Sunday - which included Wade responding to haters - Wade was clear he plans on playing at least a while longer:

Wade's ability to play at an elite level is hardly in question. His efficiency waned some under a heavier load in 2014-15, but he averaged 21.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, an 1.2 steals, and the Heat were six points per-100 possessions better on offense with him on the floor.

The concern with Wade is injuries, as he averaged 19.5 missed games over the past four seasons. He said his knees are hanging in there, but hamstring issues limited him last season, too.

It's possible that with additional wing depth, the Heat will look to more closely Wade's minutes this coming season. Luol Deng is back, Justise Winslow is in the fold, and Goran Dragic can help take some of the playmaking pressure off of Wade.

Oh, and Mario Chalmers is still around, ready to be the sponge absorbing the frustrations of teammates.

Wade's 13th season with Miami should prove an interesting one, as the Heat will look to bounce back from their first playoff miss since 2008.
