If DeAndre Jordan changes his mind about signing with the Dallas Mavericks, at least they won't have to worry about Wesley Matthews reneging on them.
Reportedly.
The shooting guard, who gave the Mavs a verbal commitment on a four-year deal worth around $52 million last week, won't change his mind if Jordan does, according to The Oregonian's Jason Quick. The free-agency moratorium ends Thursday and Matthews is expected to be in Dallas to officially sign and be introduced by the team.
The reality of the NBA's free agency period is all deals are verbal until they are signed after the moratorium is lifted – in this case July 9. The Mavericks would probably have no recourse if Jordan jilts them, unless they want to involve lawyers and make things unpleasant for everyone involved.
