As he explained in an earlier piece for The Players' Tribune, power forward Kevin Love is re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers because of "unfinished business."
Love made good on that promise Thursday once the signing moratorium was lifted at 12:01 a.m. ET. Love revealed that Cavaliers general manager David Griffin reached out and they managed to officially sign the reported five-year, $110-million deal.
Love explained his decision in full detail in a video for The Players' Tribune.
Excitement oozed from Love's voice as he explained his decision.
"We're at Oracle Arena, we had lost Game 1," Love said. "From a true basketball junkie, basketball nut, growing up and having watched all the superstars tapes, and bring with my dad in the driveway, and just being around the team and having the feeling, and seeing the brotherhood and the family was something that I really, really wanted to be a part of."
"I've never wanted to be in a game more than that," Love added.
With Love and most of the Cavaliers' free agents slated to re-sign, a return to the Finals seems like a mere formality. With any luck, the 26-year-old Love will be healthy this time around.
