Unrestricted free agent Lance Thomas wants to continue playing under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden.
The 27-year-old forward has agreed to a one-year, $1.6-million deal to remain with the New York Knicks, reports RealGM's Shams Charania.
Thomas, who began the season as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, was acquired by the Knicks back in January as part of a three-team trade that sent Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The team waived him two days later, although he was ultimately signed to a series of 10-day contracts shortly thereafter before signing on for the remainder of the season with New York.
In 40 outings following the trade, Thomas averaged 8.3 points on 43.4 percent shooting in 26 minutes per game.
This deal pales in comparison to some of the other moves and signings team president Phil Jackson has pulled off this summer, which include acquiring Robin Lopez, Derrick Williams, and Arron Afflalo through free agency.
With so many new faces on the roster, including rookies Kristaps Porzingis and Jerian Grant, it's hard to imagine Thomas making much of an impact, although he can be counted on for instant offense in limited minutes as a reserve when his number is called.
