It's 2009 all over again.
Mo Williams and LeBron James are reunited with a Cleveland Cavaliers team that's expected to contend for an NBA championship.
The Cavaliers officially signed Williams on Friday, according to the team. Terms of the deal were not released, but Williams will reportedly earn $4.3 million over two years.
"We’re very excited to welcome Mo back to Cleveland and we feel he will be a great fit with our team," said Cavaliers general manager David Griffin. "Mo is a proven, high-caliber playmaker and his ability to space the floor at either guard position will be essential for us."
Williams is past his one-time All-Star peak, but he remains a decent contributor, especially on offense. The 32-year-old averaged 17.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and six assists in 30.8 minutes per game after being traded to the Charlotte Hornets last season.
Williams began the year with the Minnesota Timberwolves, with whom he unexpectedly dropped a 52-point game.
Williams should slot in as the backup to Kyrie Irving at point guard, while seeing some time at shooting guard. He's a capable combo guard who shot 34.2 percent from deep last season and is a career 37.9-percent 3-point shooter.
Most importantly, Williams is a fan-favorite in Cleveland, where he teamed up with James in their first tour of duty together.
Now where's Booby Gibson?
