Not enough votes yet for Bucks arena deal as clock ticks

As of Tuesday, the Milwaukee Bucks were no closer to getting the votes necessary to fund a new arena, according to project proponent and Wisconsin state senator Scott Fitzgerald.
Fitzgerald told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he's still seeking 17 votes - the number needed to get the $250-million state funding bill passed.
"I'm not going to the floor without the votes," Fitzgerald said, implying he may abandon the effort if he doesn't get support from fellow legislators.
A vote on the arena deal was expected this week. Team president Peter Feigin told politicians last week that time is of the essence in commencing construction, lest the franchise be moved to Seattle or Las Vegas.
