Having shipped out two backup point guards in a trade for Ty Lawson, the Houston Rockets suddenly find themselves in need of a third point guard.
The Rockets could turn to veteran guard Jason Terry to fill that role. The two sides have been progressing on a deal to reunite and Sunday's Lawson trade makes that even more likely, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.
With Lawson serving as the presumed starter and defensive wizard Patrick Beverley serving as backup, Terry would presumably mop up third-string minutes, while also chipping in occasionally at shooting guard.
Terry was a solid contributor for Houston last season, providing strong defense and decent 3-point shooting despite his age. The 37-year-old averaged 7.0 points and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 39 percent from deep. He played 77 games and started 18 contests.
