Newcastle midfielder Remy Cabella suffers thigh injury, will reportedly miss 6-8 weeks
Newcastle United's Remy Cabella has been shelved for six-to-eight weeks after being diagnosed with a torn thigh muscle, according to L'Equipe.
Cabella and fellow Magpie Cheick Tiote were omitted from the club's preseason U.S. tour because of injury. Cabella was a dynamic part of Newcastle's attack last season - despite initially struggling with acclimatizing to the league - and his creativity will be missed by newly appointed manager Steve McClaren.
McClaren assessed Cabella's situation for reporters prior to leaving for the U.S.
"But just before we came away he felt something in his thigh. We won't take risks with players and we will just have to see how long that will be."
The 25-year old Corsican signed a six-year deal with Newcastle prior to the start of last year's Premier League campaign after having spent the last decade at Montpellier.
Despite the injury news, Cabella appears to be staying positive. He'll look to regain fitness for Newcastle's 2015-16 Premier League campaign, which shows promise with the signing of Georginio Wijnaldum from PSV and the impending Aleksandar Mitrovic transfer from Anderlecht.
