Tulowitzki on trade rumors: 'I signed my contract because I want to be with the Rockies'

When Troy Tulowitzki put pen to paper on a six-year, $120-million extension in 2010 to remain with the Colorado Rockies, he did so with the intention to see it to the end.

"I didn't sign my contract because I wanted to be somewhere else," Tulowitzki told Tracy Ringolsby of MLB.com. "I signed my contract because I want to be with the Rockies."

The 30-year-old shortstop continues to see his name surface in trade rumors once again as the Rockies stumble through another meaningless season, though they're not coming because he has a desire to be dealt.

"I've never said one thing about (a trade)," said Tulowitzki. "There's been a lot of speculation and people talking for me. It's just been a lot of rumors."

The Rockies currently sit in last place in the NL West, the third time in the last four seasons that they've occupied the division's basement. Despite the continuous losing, Tulowitzki believes it will mean that much more when the organization finally turns things around.

"My favorite player is Derek Jeter," Tulowitzki said. "It always has been. One of the things about him was how he stayed with one team his whole career.

"We've got some good, young talent here and on the way," Tulowitzki added. "We have the makings of a team that can win. To win here would be very satisfying."
