Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he wants to play in Major League Soccer
What's next for Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
That's the question surrounding the infamous Paris Saint-Germain striker, who has been linked with a number of teams in the summer transfer window. Another European move might be on the cards, but Ibrahimovic said he's also open to a move to Major League Soccer.
"I would like to play in (the United States), absolutely," Ibrahimovic told Yahoo Sports on Thursday. "I would like to play. Which team? Am I allowed to say that? No, I cannot say that."
Prior to PSG heading to North Carolina to play Chelsea in the International Champions Cup, Ibrahimovic said he has his eye on the shores of Miami, New York, or Los Angeles.
"I think it would be an amazing experience," Ibrahimovic said. "I see that soccer is growing a lot in U.S. I mean, I was here 10 years ago, soccer was not on the level that it is today, but it's growing. It's growing in the right direction and I want it to be on the level of Europe. It will come here."
The 33-year-old has hinted about a move away from the Parisian club, with both AC Milan and Manchester United reportedly interested in the Swedish forward's services. Milan's new signing, Carlos Bacca, said he would love to play with Ibrahimovic, but United's interest wasn't as well-received.
Ibrahimovic admitted he did not have a good relationship with United manager Louis van Gaal. But, with many big-name players joining MLS clubs this year, Ibrahimovic said the option of playing overseas is fast becoming a much clearer option for European stars.
"I think many want to come over here and play," he said. "Maybe not in the beginning of the career, like in the second part of the career to enjoy the U.S. with the soccer at the same time and have the possibility to live here."
