Fantasy - NHL Player Rankings: 30-21
This week, we're counting down the top 50 players in fantasy hockey for the 2015-16 regular season.
Here's a look at players 21-30 to target in your NHL fantasy draft, with stats from 2014-15.
30. Canucks F Daniel Sedin
Goals | Assists | +/- | PIM | Shots | Points Per Game |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
20 | 56 | 5 | 18 | 226 | 0.93 |
As mentioned when brother Henrik came in at No. 32 on this list, the Sedins can always be relied on to produce, despite relative uncertainty regarding the direction of the Canucks' roster as a whole.
Daniel has always been the higher-scoring brother, but even after tallying only 20 goals this past season, he still finished with the seventh-highest point total in the NHL.
Count on 20-25 goals and 70-plus points once again.
29. Bruins G Tuukka Rask
Wins | GAA | SV% | SO |
---|---|---|---|
34 | 2.30 | .922 | 3 |
Like his team, Rask hit a bit of a bump in the road in 2014-15, with down numbers across the board following a Vezina Trophy win the year before. The Bruins goalie, however, remains elite at his position, and may be undervalued a touch based on last season's performance.
With a career save percentage of .926, look for Rask to bounce back in a big way.
28. Lightning F Tyler Johnson
Goals | Assists | +/- | PIM | Shots | Points Per Game |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
29 | 43 | 33 | 24 | 203 | 0.94 |
Johnson may not have been drafted by an NHL team, but he's sure to be ranked high in fantasy leagues thanks to a breakout year, which included an inspired playoff performance that was unfortunately hindered by a late injury.
Averaging 26.5 goals over the past two seasons, Johnson upped his assist totals in 2014-15, and is proving to be a reliable, high-end option.
27. Sharks D Brent Burns
Goals | Assists | +/- | PIM | Shots | Points Per Game |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
17 | 43 | -9 | 65 | 245 | 0.73 |
Burns finished tied for second in total points among defensemen last season, and ranked fourth in goals.
Despite success on the wing on the past, he appears destined to stay on the blue line under new head coach Peter DeBoer. Based on the career-high 60 points he recorded in 2014-15, it likely won't matter where he plays.
26. Oilers F Taylor Hall
Goals | Assists | +/- | PIM | Shots | Points Per Game |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
14 | 24 | -1 | 40 | 158 | 0.72 |
While Connor McDavid may steal the crown before too long, Hall remains the best and most important member of the Oilers' young forward corps, and ranks among the top left wingers in hockey.
Hall's last season was cut short due to injury, but he should easily be able to average a point per game and challenge for his first 30-goal year, especially with McDavid next to him on Edmonton's top line.
25. Blue Jackets F Ryan Johansen
Goals | Assists | +/- | PIM | Shots | Points Per Game |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
26 | 45 | -6 | 40 | 202 | 0.87 |
Johansen quietly had a star-worthy 2014-15, but his efforts were clouded by the lack of overall success for the Blue Jackets.
With a deep and solid forward corps around him, Johansen is set to rise even higher this season, staking his claim as a high-end center ranked just below the truly elite.
24. Ducks F Corey Perry
Goals | Assists | +/- | PIM | Shots | Points Per Game |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
33 | 22 | 13 | 67 | 193 | 0.82 |
Perry was hindered by the mumps last season, but still managed to top 30 goals for the fourth straight 82-game campaign.
He comprises half of the NHL's most dynamic duo, and remains a good bet to put pucks on and in the net with regularity.
23. Canadiens F Max Pacioretty
Goals | Assists | +/- | PIM | Shots | Points Per Game |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
37 | 30 | 38 | 32 | 302 | 0.84 |
Pacioretty suffered an injury during summer training and may not be quite up to speed at the beginning of the season, but his goal and shot rates still place him among the game's most productive forwards.
The 26-year-old averaged 38 goals over the past two seasons, takes over three shots per game, and has a knack for returning quickly from injury. He's a stud.
22. Capitals G Braden Holtby
Wins | GAA | SV% | SO |
---|---|---|---|
41 | 2.22 | .923 | 9 |
Holtby has risen to the ranks of the NHL's truly elite at his position, and may only be getting started. Rewarded with a contract extension this summer, Holtby will resume his duties in the Washington crease behind a squad boosted by several significant additions.
He'll carry the load once again, and could very well lead the league in wins in 2015-16.
21. Lightning F Nikita Kucherov
Goals | Assists | +/- | PIM | Shots | Points Per Game |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
28 | 36 | 38 | 37 | 190 | 0.78 |
Kucherov could very well play the role of Vladimir Tarasenko in 2015-16, building on a breakout year by pushing for 35-40 goals and a point per game in a very potent Lightning offense.
Increased power-play time will be the key: Kucherov ranked sixth among Lightning forwards in average ice time on the man advantage last season, and that's sure to change.
