The Miami Heat have sent guard Shabazz Napier and cash considerations to the Orlando Magic in exchange for a protected 2016 draft pick, the team announced Monday.
Napier, 24, was selected 24th overall in 2014 by the Charlotte Hornets before being dealt to Miami in a draft-night trade.
The 6-foot-1 guard out of the Connecticut won two national championships in 2011 and 2014.
In 51 games in his rookie year, Napier averaged 5.1 points on 38.2 percent shooting from the field and 36.4 percent from 3-point range.
Napier was shut down for the final month of the season after undergoing sports hernia surgery, though there aren't expected to be any lingering effects as he begins his second NBA season with Orlando.
Napier wasn't the only point guard sent packing by Miami on Monday, as the team also announced that Zoran Dragic has been traded to the Boston Celtics for a future second-round pick. Mario Chalmers may be joining his former backcourt mates soon enough, as the Heat reportedly want to rid themselves of the remaining $4.3 million on his expiring contract.
