- There isn't a date or venue, but UFC 185-pound overlord Chris Weidman will defend his title against Luke Rockhold at some point in the near future.
- There's a logjam at the top of the division, with Rockhold, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, and Yoel Romero all making compelling arguments for a title shot. With Rockhold all but assured the next crack at Weidman, do we finally get the long-gestating Jacare-Romero bout?
- After multiple botched attempts to put together the fight, Vitor Belfort finally got a crack at Weidman at UFC 187, losing via first-round TKO after an initial flurry proved fruitless. Next for Belfort is a trilogy bout with MMA legend Dan Henderson, who halted a two-fight losing streak with a violent knockout of Tim Boetsch at UFC Fight Night 68.
- With a split-decision victory over Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 72, Michael Bisping is enjoying his first winning streak since 2011. Following the bout, the brash Brit expressed interest in fighting for the title and avenging his losses against a string of known PED users.
