Anthony Davis ready for prime time: Pelicans-Heat reportedly set for Christmas Day
Anthony Davis is ready for his close-up.
The burgeoning New Orleans Pelicans superstar is set to get the highest honor on the NBA schedule, showing the league believes in his ability to draw ratings.
Davis and his Pelicans are tentatively scheduled to visit the reloaded Miami Heat as part of the league's Christmas Day slate, the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports. The Pelicans and Heat would fill the first slot of the annual back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back, tipping off at 12 p.m. ET.
While the full NBA schedule isn't expected to be released for another week or two, leaks generally become commonplace this time of year. The Christmas Day slate usually draws the most interest, with opening night and Martin Luther King Day also buzzy dates.
The other four games for Dec. 25 are up in the air, but the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Golden State Warriors seem like locks. The Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks are also fixtures, and if it's assumed they'll get their usual spots, only three slots remain, with a slew of interesting matchups possible.
Whatever the final schedule, you'll once again need to have an excuse to ditch out on family around noon.
