Tito Ortiz: Cyborg has been offered Rousey fight, could be at AT&T Stadium
The Huntington Beach Boy caused caused quite the stir Friday while promoting his Sept. 19 Bellator bout with Liam McGeary.
Tito Oritz claimed that Cris "Cyborg" Justino has been offered a fight with Ronda Rousey, and it will be held at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
"I've heard from Cris (Justino) actually that the fight that's supposed to be happening at the Cowboy's arena, I believe, the UFC, that they offered the fight to Cris," Ortiz told hosts Bas Rutten and Ron Kruck of AXS TV's Inside MMA. "I know her management said yes and I've told her, ‘Let's do it.' So I guess the ball's all in Ronda's corner and Ronda wants to do it. Dana (White) said if Cris came down to 135 they'll make the fight happen, so let's see if Ronda accepts the fight."
There's been no word from the UFC confirming or refuting the claim, but White is planning a mega-event at the stadium.
After Rousey quickly and emphatically swatted Bethe Correia away at UFC 190, she told White she wanted to be part of the mega-event, set to be headlined by a Aldo-MacGregor featherweight title fight. The UFC president agreed with Rousey, and even heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum wants in as an undercard.
Three title fights in one event would draw massive sales. However, Rousey - the female bantamweight champion - is set to face Meisha Tate next, so a change would have to be made.
The question remains: could Justino cut to 135-pounds to make the fight happen?
"Yes," Ortiz said. "It will be the biggest pay-per-view of all time."
