Report: Jets, Michael Vick have spoken, won't be reuniting
Michael Vick is available, but it doesn't look like he'll be returning to the New York Jets.
The Jets spoke to the veteran quarterback's agent about the possibility of him rejoining the team while Geno Smith recovers from a broken jaw, but the two sides determined it wasn't in their best interests to resume a professional relationship, NFL Network's Rand Getlin reports.
Vick isn't the only quarterback who has spoken with the Jets. Getlin reported Tuesday that the team has also reached out to Rex Grossman, who sustained an injury while training and will need a few weeks to recover.
Ryan Fitzpatrick is the most likely candidate to assume starting duties for the Jets, but with Smith out for 6-10 weeks and rookie Bryce Petty reportedly nowhere close to being ready, the team is in need of depth at the position.
Matt Flynn and Tyler Thigpen are among the free-agent quarterbacks still available. If the Jets are real desperate, they could give Jared Lorenzen a call:
Umm @nyjets just saying I already look great in green. #ComingbacktoNYC #ThrowboyTees pic.twitter.com/upoPxJx3NU
