Adidas reportedly strikes jersey deal with NHL
Adidas has acquired exclusive rights to begin designing uniforms for the NHL's 30 teams in a move that could set the groundwork for advertising to appear on official jerseys, TSN's Rick Westhead reports.
The agreement is expected to take effect for the 2017-18 season when Adidas replaces Reebok - a company under its own corporate umbrella.
The deal could bring massive changes to the current look of certain NHL clubs:
A source told TSN that the deal would surely mean big changes to uniform designs, perhaps with adidas' familiar three-stripe trademark being added to some or all team jerseys.
Adidas beat out Under Armour and Bauer for the right to outfit the NHL in an agreement that will cost them more than double the $35 million Reebok paid in the previous deal.
An official announcement is expected in September.
