Following the news of Pedro opting for a move to Chelsea, Manchester United has reportedly turned its attention from the Spanish coast to the British seaside.

Southampton striker Sadio Mane could be on his way to United, and the Old Trafford outfit in fact registered its interest last week, perhaps explaining why the Pedro transfer saga was so drawn out, Jason Burt of The Telegraph reports.

But there is resistance from Southampton's end. A club official told Sky Sports that the 23-year-old "is a key part of our team and our planning for the future. He wouldn't be sold.”

Mane enjoyed a fine season at St. Mary's Stadium in 2014-15, recording the fastest hat trick in Premier League history against Aston Villa in May and scoring 10 goals over the course of the campaign.

In its pursuit of Pedro and now Mane, it is clear that Manchester United is looking to strengthen its attack as it looks to better its fourth-place finish last season.
